My primary inspiration is found in the detail of the natural world; perhaps due, at least in part, to having been trained as a field biologist. As such, one needs to look really closely in order to first find and then identify organisms. I see abstract paintings just waiting to be realised on the pebbles or pieces of fallen rock that I pick up compulsively. I find water-worn or weathered wood as exciting as sculpture and the ripples of peat-stained water the worthy star of photographic studies. Beach glass and pebbles encased in blocks of resin form a glowing window panel at the entrance to my studio which constantly raises my spirits.

I live in Penrhyncoch near Aberystwyth. I have, from my childhood, taken photographs and picked up beautiful 'things' wherever I go. As an adult I am now also a keen gardener, I gather wild food, & make preserves from my produce. I belong to the Mid-Wales art collective The Picturemakers / Y Llunwyr and attend the Taliesin Art Group (TAG); painting, drawing, doodling and making sculptures from driftwood.

I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to develop my painting, encouraged by my fellow Picturemakers and inspired by what I find and where I go.
