Gordon was born in Maidstone, Kent in 1947. He studied photolithography at the LondonCollege of Printing, and then drawing and illustration at Harrow Art School.

He has lived and worked in Wales since 1980, holding many one-man shows and participating in numerous group exhibitions., including: The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Royal Society of Engravers, Royal Portrait Society, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, National Library of Wales, Christie's Contemporary Prints, andLiberty's.

His commissions include etchings for Control Data, Cadw Welsh Historic Monuments, Lincoln Cathedral, Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron and Devenish Publications.

In 2003 he attended the Curwen Studio Chilford studying with Dr Stanley Jones the art of hand-drawn lithography. In 2004 he produced a number of original lithographs of the Dyfi Estuary.

As well as printmaking, Gordon paints, in oil and acrylics, a wide range of subjects (landscapes, still life, airports, interiors), often on a large scale.
