Dot started attending art classes following retirement as a social historian. From childhood she has always loved being outdoors, walking in the hills and mountains. Now she enjoys the challenge of communicating, through her paintings, the feeling of well-being she experiences in the countryside.
At present her work is representational, a straightforward transcription of the landscape in simplified form, using a restricted palette. Increasingly, though, she is draw towards abstraction in terms of shape and rhythm to better communicate a “spirit of place”. Her next series returns to themes of sea and coast, based on locations near her home on the Dyfi estuary, Ceredigion.
She is married to Harry, another member of the group, and you can see more of their work on their own website.
