History Section: The Picturemakers' First Exhibition
'Cynefin'
King Street Gallery, Carmarthen
3—31 September 2007
This exhibition, our first as a group, grew out of the collective urge to create. Most of all, it continues to demonstrate how we respond to that which surrounds us; to what we have found in our own, individual and personal backyards, found in our cynefin, in that special place and of that special people, that we know and love.

Exhibition Preview of 'Cynefin'
On Thurs 30 August we held a preview of the 'Cynefin' exhibition at the Conrah Hotel, Aberystwyth, in aid of charity (Mentro Lluest, Aberystwyth).

Donation to Mentro Lluest
At the successful Cynefin preview at the Conrah Hotel, Aberystwyth on 30 Sept 2007, almost £3200 was raised for the charitable organisation Mentro Lluest, from the sale of paintings donated by The Picturemakers artists, and by our local patrons. This sum was presented to David Greeney, Chairman of the Mentro Trustees, on 8 Dec 2007 by The Picturemakers President Prof Alistair Crawford and other members of the group. Iwan
Congratulations to Iwan Dafis who was a finallist in the Boundary Gallery Prize for Figurative Art 2008 and showed at their gallery in London. For more info visit Artnet or Boundary Gallery. He has also won a Geoffrey Crawshay Memorial Travelling Fellowship to travel to Provence to paint.

The show was hung early, on 7 March 2008. The official opening was held on Sat 14 March, when about 50 visitors came to meet the artists and enjoy coffee and home-made biscuits. The proceeds from the refreshments (£60) will be donated to The Samaritans.
The show is now closed, but you can still take the virtual tour.
